Wessex Lacemakers
Formed in 1980 Wessex Lace Makers is a group whose members come from all parts of the Wessex area from Bristol to Wiltshire and Dorset, and Somerset
The Group meets in North Petherton Village Hall as we believe it is central to most Lace Makers in the area.
The meetings are usually held on the first Saturday of February April, June, October and December from 10.00am to 4.00pm. They are social meetings where you can meet other Lace makers. Books with lace making techniques are available for members to borrow. A small stock of Threads and other useful items are held for purchase at cost.
We try to arrange something different for each meeting. There is usually a Speaker, a demonstration or a ‘have-a-go’ workshop, an opportunity to try something new and sometimes we have a Supplier in attendance.
Competitions are held on various themes throughout the year.
Our membership is open to all age groups, so you are never too old or too young to learn make lace.
WLM aims to encourage and promote all types of lace making and new ideas are always welcome. We particularly encourage young lace makers as they will be the ones to continue the craft in the future
Membership is renewable at the Annual General Meeting, each member will be issued with a Membership Card giving dates and details of the years’ meetings
Members are also to be found demonstrating their lace skills and exhibiting the lace they have made at venues from the local village fetes to Stately Homes and Castles
Occasionally we organise trips to museums and lace displays.

3 February 2018 – Talk on Tatting and Crochet with Margaret Flux
24 February 2018 – Lace Fayre at Holiday Inn, Taunton
7 April 2018 – AGM and Workshop
